Leeper Information:


It has taken several years of considered thought and a number of iterations of the prototype to find an elegant and functional design for the concept of the Leeper.  The modular design allows you to choose how you adapt the Leeper to your situation and easily upgrade the device to suit your needs. 

The Leeper is an exercise trainer for the lower limbs, essentially for the muscles below the knee. This device uses the natural motion of the ankle and foot – plantar flexion and dorsiflexion – to activate the ‘calf muscle pump’, the function of which is to increase venous return (the flow of blood from the legs to the heart).

The Device:

Small and lightweight and eco-friendly

The Leeper comprises two compact foot operated units. Each unit is made up of a footplate which is attached to the ‘saddle’ of the mechanism and this mechanism can be secured to various bases to suit your needs. The mechanism is similar in size to a bar of soap and through careful choice of materials weighs (85g), less than a smart phone. The materials for the Leeper have been chosen for their recyclable and sustainable nature, along with their hygienic and functional properties.

The Leeper Action:

Simple and effective and easy to use 

This device uses the natural rocking motion of the ankle and foot to activate the ‘calf muscle pump function’ enhancing return of venous blood from the lower limbs to the heart. This foot movement – plantar flexion and dorsiflexion – is also a prescribed exercise for lymphoedema to enhance lymph transit. The smooth natural action of the Leeper encourages the user to regular and periodic movement throughout the day to help maintain leg health.

Using the Leeper :

Anyone.  Anywhere.  Anytime.

The Leeper encourages the user to ‘fidget’ using the natural action of the ankle and foot so that anyone can use it, at anytime of day and in any setting: as a footrest when seated, at your work station, when using a wheelchair, on a long journey – in a car, train or plane.

Accessories and upgrades:

  • A set of springs, of different strengths and easily changed, to provide increasing resistance for muscle strengthening
  • Sensor for connectivity – Performance App to monitor activity 
  • Carry case, that doubles as a sloping base for when using the Leeper as a footrest, for easy transport  
  • A range of clamps to enable use with many wheelchairs
